RELIC LURES LICENSES THE SIMPSONS, RESERVOIR DOGS, & GUARDIANS OF ATLANTIS

Malibu, CA - Relic Lures, LLC introduces a new take on traditional fishing tackle - lures with character! Relic will manufacture sculpted fishing lures with licenses selected for their character popularity and thematic appeal. Marc Harrington, President of Relic Lures, pointed out "lures are created to catch fishermen, not fish - our desire was to build on that premise, and create something really cool."

Each highly detailed lure is designed for maximum collector appeal. Although "genuine character" is the motto of Relic Lures, each lure is fully functional and maintains the performance expected from a more conventional lure. Relic's manufacturing process includes pre-production testing to ensure the product will perform as promised. Relic's lures, although novel in design, incorporate a number of traditional lure shapes including top water and shallow diving crank baits. The size of the lures will be similar to more traditional artificial baits used when fishing for 2 to 20 pound fish in either freshwater or saltwater. The line is set for release in Fall 2002. Relic's first public exhibition will be the fishing industry's largest trade event, the American Sportfishing Association (ASA) Show in July in Las Vegas.

The Simpsons
"Whoo Hoo!" Relic Lures has acquired fishing equipment licensing rights to The Simpsons from Twentieth Century Fox Licensing and Merchandising (Fox L&M). Relic's first product launch will include four Simpsons' character icons; Homer, Bart, Blinky (the three-eyed nuclear mutant fish), and the Duff Beer can! "Our goal was to work with a character-driven collector property that had widespread appeal that conveys our company's image of edginess and irreverence. We feel that The Simpsons meets this criteria on all counts," said Harrington. Voted the best show of the 20th Century by TIME magazine, The Simpsons exploded into a cultural phenomenon in 1990 and remains one of the most visible and marketable properties both domestically and internationally. This Emmy Award®-winning series successful entry into syndication only added to its appeal, reaching a whole new generation of fans. The Simpsons is currently airing its 13th Season.

Reservoir Dogs
Working with Artisan Consumer Products, Relic will produce lures based on the cult classic feature film, "Reservoir Dogs." Rather then rely on character/actor resemblance; this lure line focuses on the name, the attitude, and the intense fiction of the property. To that end, each stick bait in the Reservoir Dogs line will be painted in the color of one of the four main characters - Mr. White (Harvey Keitel), Mr. Blonde (Michael Madsen), Mr. Orange (Tim Roth), and Mr. Pink (Steve Buscemi). Not only are these colors attractive to fish, the flotation and design of the proprietary Reservoir Dog lure is perfect for creating the "walk the dog" action - a popular retrieval action which simulates a fish's motion. "We thought that certain elements of the film were a good fit" says Artisan Executive Vice President of Worldwide Marketing, Amorette Jones "the character names applied to fishing lures is creative and amusing."

Guardians of Atlantis
Guardians of Atlantis is an extraordinary series of paintings & sculptures created by creature designer, and fisherman, Sandy Collora. Collora designed and sculpted three of his proprietary Guardians of Atlantis "seapeople" into unique fishing lures for license by Relic Lures. The Guardian line includes Mesoqua, the shapely female seaperson, Longimanus, the muscular male sentry, and Sharkbeast, the Guardians rideable creature. As commented by Collora, "I am a big fisherman and was thrilled to work with the Atlantis characters for lures - it is an ideal application."

"We are after the 10:00 a.m. fisherman," said Marc Harrington in reference to the more casual sportsfisherman who would be interested in purchasing this type of lure, "response from fishermen and collectors has been extremely positive."
