“Go Fish!”
With summer right around the corner, wouldn’t it be great if you could take your favorite animated characters along on your fishing trips? Well, thanks to Marc Harrington and his quirky enterprise Relic Lures, you can actually fish with Homer, Bart, and even, Popeye the Sailor. “Back in the 60s, you’d see garage-type mermaid lures, but I wanted to take it one step farther,” says the Malibu, Calif.-based Harrington, “I’m both a fishing geek and a toy geek, so I decided to marry my two passions.” Relic Lures, which also features a Reservoir Dogs line of relics (displaying tough fish which wear shades and have bullet holes on their bodies), are now available at a suggested retail price of $12.99 and can be ordered online at www.reliclures.com. So what’s the line’s bestseller right now? It’s Blinky, the famous three-eyed fish that was a byproduct of The Simpsons’ Springfield nuclear factory. “Not only is Blinky on of the most popular lures,” says Harrington. “but we were shocked when we found out how well it worked. We’ve actually caught a lot of fish on it!” We’re hooked already.
